Discovering the power of neighborhood residents…
That was the assignment we received from the municipality of Heerlen. After a presentation to all those involved in the district, we made the pupils of BS St. Paulus group 7 + 8 the architects of the district. From the themes ‘maze’ and ‘labyrinth’, the pupils developed ideas and created a basic form for the DoLint artwork, read ‘Meetingplace’. By offering various workshops related to the techniques needed to realize the work of art, the participation of the neighborhood residents is also given an optimal opportunity. The final result is a co-production of the neighborhood residents, in which many people will permanently recognize their contribution.

Basically this artwork is about the conflict between two world views: On the one hand there is the unchangeable world of materialization, trade and industry, which seems to be increasingly indifferent to higher values. With our artwork in the Passart neighborhood we want to create a place where you can retreat, just be there, be at ease and relax, get rid of everything that supposedly MUST be done, meet other people but especially have a meeting with yourself…
DoLint is never finished…
Each visitor can connect with DoLint by attaching a padlock. The lock is the metaphor for the visitor's own destiny. The visitor must especially take the key home. Thus, the visitor stays the manager of his own destiny...
